St Noa are CAF Schools tournament CECAFA champions

Uganda representatives St Noa emerged champions of the 2024 CAF Schools U15 girls football championship after piping Tanzania on goal difference.

The Zana based side displayed a dominant show against Rwanda, winning 8-0 for a bulged goal difference of 9 and even when Tanzania beat Burundi 1-0, they could not overtake the Ugandan side.

Brenda Nasaka who was named the player of the match scored four in the landslide score win.

Halima Mupyanga grabbed a brace while a goal from Cynthia Kirenge and Tracy Nabalanzi netted once each to cement St. Noa’s win.

The two teams finished on 7 points after having to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday, but the goal difference separated them.

St Noa now emulates Kawempe Muslim, who won the event hosted in Nairobi Kenya last year and will be heading for the CAF final event as CECAFA representatives.

Brenda Nasaka (St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana) finished as the tourney’s top scorers on four goals.

Meanwhile, St. Noa custodian Haira Nabbosa and Burundi’s Ella Louange Kezimana was the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

St. Noa smiled home with a USD 100,000 cheque. The Silver Medalists Tanzania took 70,000 while 3rd placed Burundi won 50,000.

In the boys Tanzania won the gold on goal difference at the expense of second place St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende .
