Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC head coach Ayub Khalifah has expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, saying he is not intimidated by the newly appointed head coach of Kampala Queens, Asefa Haile Gabreal.

Speaking during the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League monthly awards at Twed Plaza on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Khalifah emphasized his focus on Kawempe’s goals.

“I welcome him to our league, but I’m not scared of Kampala Queens’ new head coach. We all have different ambitions at our clubs,” Khalifah said.

He added, “People only talk about the game I lost to Ethiopia, where they had a red card. However, I have defeated Asefa Haile’s coached teams many times, and that’s often overlooked.”

Khalifah’s team currently tops the FUFA Women Super League with 13 points from five games, four points ahead of second-placed Kampala Queens.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC dominated the monthly awards, with Khalifah named best coach and their goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya, named best player, each receiving UGX 500,000.

Kampala Queens recently underwent a change in leadership, parting ways with former coach Charles Ayiekoh. The club replaced him with Ethiopian tactician Asefa Haile Gabreal, who signed a two-year employment contract.

This move aims to revitalize the team’s performance and challenge for the top spot.

Upcoming fixtures:

– Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC vs. Lady Doves

– Kampala Queens vs. Amus College WFC

The highly anticipated matchup between Kawempe Muslim and Kampala Queens is scheduled for December 8.
