Kampala Queens FC have completed the signing of Haile Gabriel as their new head coach, replacing Charles Ayiekoh.

Haile will be assisted by Sharon Kizza, former Kitara FC fitness coach and ex-UCU Lady Cardinals player.

Kizza, who led Kampala Queens to a 2-0 victory over Rines on Saturday morning, will work under Haile.

The Ethiopian coach is already in the country and is set to be unveiled soon.

Haile previously guided Ethiopia to win the 2022 CECAFA Women’s U-20 Championship in Uganda, orchestrating a dramatic comeback over Uganda in the final.

Ethiopia completed a remarkable comeback from 2-0 to win the championship by 3-2, despite being down to 10 players after a red card.

Turist Lema, Ariet Odong, and Ridet Assrasahang scored crucial goals for Ethiopia to seal the victory.

Hadijah Nandago and Fauzia Najjemba had earlier netted the only goals for Ayub Khalifah’s side.

With nine points from five games, Kampala Queens remain unbeaten this season, trailing table leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC by four points.

The Queens will host in-form Amus College WFC on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in their next league game.
