The Uganda senior men’s football national team, the Uganda Cranes, will face South Sudan on Tuesday, October 15, in the return leg of the AFCON 2025 qualifier game.

The match kicks off at 4:00 PM at Juba International Stadium in South Sudan, where Uganda has a chance to qualify for the final tournament today.

If Uganda beats South Sudan and South Africa edges Congo Brazzaville later in the day, Uganda and South Africa will seal the spots for the final tournament.

Currently sitting atop Group K with seven points, Uganda will move to 10 points, matching South Africa’s total if they win.

This would leave Congo and South Sudan in third and fourth positions with three and zero points, respectively, with only two games left, effectively ending their qualification chances.

South Sudan must earn maximum points to keep their qualification hopes alive.

In the first leg, played two days ago at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, Uganda narrowly defeated South Sudan 1-0, thanks to Bevis Mugabi’s second half goal.

However, the goal scorer missed recovery training and is doubtful for today’s encounter, while the rest of the squad is available to hunt for the three crucial points.

Probable Lineup for Uganda:

Isima Watenga (GK)

Kenneth Semakula

Aziz Kayondo

Halid Lwaliwa

Timothy Awany

Khalid Aucho

Bbobosi Byaruhanga

Allan Okello

Jude Ssemugabi

Mato Rogers

Denis Omedi
