3×3 basketball is one of the fastest growing urban sports around the world and has since 2020 been an official Olympic sport.

Speaking at the launch, Mountain Dew Brand Manager, Namutebi Grace said the brand is excited to be a part of the series that will be an exciting addition to the basketball calendar.

“Mountain Dew is an urban, hip brand that has been associated with basketball for a long time.

We are excited to be a part of this 3×3 Series that will be taking place across the country bringing both our brand and the sport closer to the grassroots. It’s going to be great and exciting for both the players and fans and we are looking forward to it,” Ms. Namutebi said.

Red Rhino Sports Director, Akwech Samuel said they are pleased to bring yet another tournament to provide athletes a platform to showcase their skills, entertain fans and win great prizes.

“This has been in the works for some time and we are very excited as an agency to provide athletes yet another platform to develop and showcase their skills, entertain fans and win great prizes.

We believe that Uganda has a great future in 3-on-3 and we are here to play our part in making that future,” Akwech said.

FUBA President, Serunjogi Nasser welcomed the development saying 3×3 is one of the ways to grow the sport in Uganda.

“FIBA and FUBA have along identified 3×3 as one of the ways to grow the game of basketball in Uganda.

We are therefore excited to have Red Rhino Sports and Mountain Dew on board to help grow and advance this variation of the sport and we believe that it can help us grow the sport and we can even qualify for the next Olympics with even more activities such as these,” Nasser said.

The Mountain Dew 3×3 Series will have 7 qualifying stops in 5 cities across Uganda which stops will act as qualifiers for the 8th and final stop.
