All is set for the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League opener as KCCA FC, URA face off

Under floodlights, the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season will officially kick off tomorrow, Friday, the 13th September at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

KCCA FC will host URA FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League highly anticipated opener.

KCCA FC who finished 5th

Under Abdallah Mubiru following their lame start in  last season will face a face lifted URA FC under new tactician Alex Isabirye.

In their last meeting, KCCA FC were 3-2 winners against URA last season at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA FC also eliminated URA FC in the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup last term.

In the previous 29 meetings, KCCA FC has won 9 times, while URA FC FC has won 13 and the two sides have drawn 7 times.

Both sides have produced 73 goals in their 29 meetings with KCCA FC netting 36 goals compared to URA FC’s 37.

In their last five meetings, the two sides have won two each and drawing once. The five games produced a record 11 goals.

Goalkeeper Derrick Ochan who joined URA FC from KCCA FC is expected to make his debut against his former employers.

He (Ochan) became the club’s fourth signing after Isma Mugulusi, Abraham Tusubira and Bright Vuni who are expected to make debuts against KCCA FC this Friday in the 2024/25 league opener at the MTN Omondi stadium.

KCCA FC’s new signings Derrick Nsibambi and Steven Munguchi are in contention to face their former club, URA FC, on Friday.

Usama Arafat is ruled out due to a knock he suffered during preseason as the rest of the squad is fit and ready to feature against URA FC.
