The Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) has confirmed that its 2024 Annual General Assembly will take place on Friday, the 30th August.

Marking the third AGM since FAU became a member of FUFA in September 2019, it will take place at the FUFA SIG Offices in Kampala.

This follows the previous two AGMs held in September 2020 and 2022, both at Kenendia Hotel.

The FAU Assembly brings together all the sport’s stakeholders from various aspects of the game.

The assembly will attract FAU executive committee, Futsal Club representatives, FUFA representatives, Media, FAU member associations,8 Futsal Super League Clubs and Futsal Players Association.

The others include futsal referees association, coaches association, women association, youth association, Tertiary Institutions association, Secondary and Primary Schools Association

Over the past few, FAU has organized various competitions which includes the Futsal Super League ( which has 12 teams), Futsal Uganda Cup, Futsal Super Cup, Futsal Primary Schools Tournament and the U14 Futsal League.

Background

FAU has experienced a significant growth since its introduction in 2015. It fully gained FUFA membership and affiliation in 2019.

Growth of Futsal in Uganda

Futsal has been gradually gaining popularity in Uganda, with the Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) working to develop the sport and increase its visibility.

The FAU has since introduced formal competitions, including the Futsal Super League and the Uganda Futsal Cup, which have helped to increase interest and participation in the sport.

The association established a national team, the Nile Cranes, which competes in international tournaments, including the 2024 Caf Africa Futsal Cup of Nations.
