Over 5,000 students set to compete in USSSA FEASSSA Qualifiers in Soroti

5,194 students have today arrived at Teso College Aleot in Soroti to compete in this year’s Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games II championships.

Recently rebranded to USSSA Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) qualifiers, the games are set to throw off tomorrow Wednesday, the 10th July at four venues.

The venues include Teso College Aleot East and West wings, UCU, Busitema University Soroti campus and Soroti City Sports grounds.

A total of 315 teams from six sports disciplines of Netball (79), Basketball (24 girls and 24 boys teams), (Volleyball 46 girls and 48 boys), Handball (24 girls and 24 boys) and Rugby 7s (16 boys and 11 girls) will compete for supremacy.

19 Athletics Zonal teams composed of 30 athletes each will also fight for glory.

The 5,194 participants included the 630 learners who will be involved in capacity building in media line.

The games that started today 9th with the arrival of teams from across the country will run till 15th July 2024.

The tournament serves as a qualifier event to the FEASSSA Games set to be held this August at Bukedea Comprehensive and Amus College School in Bukedea.
