Mawokota Ssaza team have today 5th April 2024 appointed former Buddu tactician Steven Bogere as their new head coach.

Bogere replaces long serving tactician Richard Malinga who has managed Mawokota for the previous four years.

The development comes at a time when two time champions Buddu Ssaza were also interested in Bogere as Simon Peter Mugerwa’s replacement.

Mawokota confirmed Bogere’s appointment via their social media platforms.


Malinga guided Mawokota to 2023 edition semi-finals where they lost to eventual winners Bulemeezi.

Bogere joins with a host of experience in the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup having previously led Buddu to the 2016 and 2021 triumphs.

Meanwhile, Bogere has been in the same roles at SC Villa, UPDF, Proline, defunct Victoria University and previously Onduparaka FC.

Mawokota are three time Masaza Cup winners following their success in 2005, 2007 and 2013.
