BetPawa and Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations announced a 2.6 Billion partnership. The announcement was held on 20th  March 2024 at Fairway Hotel in Kampala.

The partnership from the local betting brand will cover Uganda’s National basketball teams the Silverbacks (Senior Men) and the Gazelles (Senior Women) activities for the next three years.

In an announcement made, BetPawa confirms it will give the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) UGX 2.6 Billion towards the management of these two teams between now and 2026.

The costs to be covered under this partnership include team training, travel and accommodation to attend tournaments, medical insurance and supplements, among others.

“FUBA has done a great job so far to develop this game in Uganda. As we commend them, we also want to give them the support they need to elevate the game higher, hence the timeliness of this sponsorship,” said BetPawa’s Chief Branding Officer Spencer Okach.

Confirming the signing of the sponsorship, FUBA CEO Marcus Kwikiriza said,

“This is the first time our players are getting an incentive such as the Locker Room Bonus and I am glad because it is a great way to recognize the efforts made by our players on the court.”

In addition, BetPawa will also directly pay the players UGX 150,000 per match for

every win their team gets under their flagship Locker Room Bonus initiative. Locker

Room Bonus is a direct reward to players by the sponsor for winning matches, as a way of boosting their morale and recognizing great performance.

Not only does BetPawa sponsor basketball, but also partners with FUFA, supporting its FUFA Drum and Futsal leagues.
