UFL: IUIU maintains perfect home winning run with a victory against ten man YMCA

Islamic University in Uganda 2-0 YMCA

Islamic University in Uganda won 2-0 against YMCA to continued with their perfect run at home.

The win against YMCA came on Tuesday afternoon, the 17th October 2023 in Mbale.

Ismail Tamubula and Denis Onongo were target for IUIU.

The win pushed IUIUto the top of the group, tied on six points with  Makerere University Business School (MUBs).

IUIU earned an early lead in the 13th minute through Tamubula with a diving header.

However, the goal  was highly  protest by YMCA players in claim for an off by  Shikanga Emmanuel who laid the cross.

 

Later after eight minutes, Denis Onongo  doubled the hosts’ lead with a powerful free kick, 40 yards from the goal.

43 minutes into the game, YMCA got a blow as skipper, Martin Ssembajjwe was given matching orders for a dangerous play on Emmanuel Shikanga Emmanuel

The result almost left YMCA out of the race as chances to make it out of the group slimed.

YMCA currently occupy the bottom of group B with only one point in three games.

Games resume today, Wednesday, the 18th as two wounded sides Busitema University and Kumi meet at Busitema Grounds.
