Uganda Christian University (UCU) won 2-0 against Kampala International University (KIU) to continue with their sublime start to the 2023 University Football League (UFL).

The 2-0 win was held at the UCU grounds in Mukono, on a wet Monday evening, the 16th October 2023.

Isaac Ofoyirwoth and Allan Opio scored two first half goals for Mukono-based side to solidify their Group D leadership.

UCU is now a step away to the knockout stage. With three games played, they have collected maximum nine (9) points at the top of Group D.

Geoffrey Akabwai the KIU head coach attributed the loss to the heavy down pours.
“The rain became our manger problem as the pitch became soggy and flooded. We raised it the issue to the referee about the ball’s poor movement on the waterlogged field. However, using his powers, he decided to continue the game.” Akabwai.

Speaking to the post match press, UCU coach Collines Ahumuza highlights as follows;
“From the beginning of the season to date, our objective this season is going past the group stages with a clean record. After group stages, our focus will shift to the title this season.” Said the female coach Collines Ahumuza.
