Alex Isabirye’s Vipers SC and Soltilo Bright Stars won their respective fixtures to become the first two teams to progress to the quarter finals of the 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Vipers SC defeated Wakiso Giants 4-3 in penalty shoot outs after both sides playing for a 1-all normal time draw at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

Sharif Kimbowa scored for Wakiso Giants before Ashiraf Mandela putting the game to level.

In penalty shoot outs George Kaddu, Moses Aliro and Rahmat Senfuka all converted for Wakiso Giants while Norman Ojik and Tom Masiko missed out for Wakiso Giants.

Bright Anukani, Martin Kizza, Hillary Mukundane and Abubaker Lawal all scored for the Kitende based side to seal the Wakiso City derby victory.

It was Isabirye’s first game at the helms of Vipers.

The other day’s game was between Buganda Regional League only side that was still in the race Kiyinda Boys and Soltilo Bright Stars.

In an emphatic 4-0 victory, Soltilo Bright Stars at their Kavumba Recreation Center home humbled Kiyinda Boys to storm quarter-finals.

Nelson Senkatuka and Emmanuel Loki scored a goal each for Asaph Mwebaze’s charges. The other goals were came through Ibrahim Kasinde who netted a brace.

Action will resume on Wednesday, 15th  with two games. Express FC will host Paidha Black Angels at Wankulukuku and Onduparaka FC play BUL at Greenlight Stadium in Arua.
