Uganda National Women’s Football team, the Crested Cranes came from a goal down to outclass Tanzania’s Twiga Stars  by 3-1 in a friendly tie.

 

The game was played on a Friday evening, 7th July 2023 at Philp Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, Kampala.

Uganda scored through Catherine Nagadya, Fauzia Najjemba and Margret Kunihira.

 

Beskitas forward Opa Clement earned Tanzania an early lead in the opening minute of the first stanza slotting the ball past custodian Ruth Aturo off Enekia’s layoff.

36 minutes later, forward Catherine Nagadya equalized for Crested Cranes tapping home from Fauzia Najjemba’s cross from the left wing.

In the final ten minutes of the game, Uganda’s top export to Moscow Fauzia Najjemba extended the lead to 2-1 before Margret Kunihira sealed the victory with a close range strike a minute later.

The friendly tie was a preparation platform for the Created Cranes ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifier double encounter against Rwanda.

On Wednesday 12th July, Uganda will lock horns with She Amavubi Stars in Kigali before the return leg in the same City a week later.
