Standard Chartered Bank has today held draws for the 41 teams participating in the 2024 Standard Chartered Cup tournament at their Standard Chartered Headquarters in Kampala.

The 7th edition of the Standard Chartered Cup Tournament will be a one-day, 10 minute, five-a-side (with two substitutes), mini futsal tournament scheduled to take place this Saturday, 7th September 2024 at the KCCA grounds, Lugogo.

This year’s edition attracted 41 teams grouped in 8 pools with each group being made up of 5 to 6 teams for the group stages.

The group games will be played on a round robin basis as two top teams will qualify for the Round of 16, Quarter finals, Semi Finals and the Finals.

John Mwesigye the Chief Operations Officer at Standard Chartered and Chairman Organizing committee for the SC Cup expressed his excitement for the turn up.

“We are extremely proud to have achieved the targeted 40 Corporate teams we called upon to participate in the 7th edition of the SC Cup and we look forward to a friendly, but exciting competition.

We appeal to all participants to adhere to the tournament requirements which include, being over 18 years of age and an amateur.

Only a professional player who has not played professional football in the last 3 years qualifies to take part in this tournament.

Even though this is a fun 10 minute, small sided tournament, it tends to be very competitive due to the grand prize, so participants are urged to prepare adequately.

All logistics and security are in place and participants are welcome to invite their friends and families to attend”.

During this year’s tournament, the field layout will have 4 mini pitches of 40 x 30 metres and these shall be named after the current Liverpool players Mohammed Salah, Alisson Baker, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold.

The winning team gets an all-expenses paid trip to the UK. The trip will include visit to the Liverpool Academy, meet up with a Liverpool FC legend, watch a live English Premier League Liverpool game at Anfield, a tour of Melwood, the Beatles story and as well as visit to the Liverpool Museum.

The winning team will also have a private tour of Liverpool Stadium not to mention a return air ticket to United Kingdom, with on-ground transfers, 3 nights’ accommodation, meals among other perks and treats.

In addition, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd runners up will also receive trophies and medals.  The best player, most disciplined team, best goalkeeper and highest scorer will also be awarded.
